Uses
RenaPlus is used to provide your pets with the potassium they need when they suffer from hypokalemia (low blood potassium). Low potassium levels are common in pets with kidney (renal) problems and can also occur because of other medical conditions.
Possible Side Effects
RenaPlus is generally very safe when it is used as prescribed. It can cause nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea but these side effects can be minimized when given with food
Drug & Food Interactions
Interactions have been reported with enalapril, digoxin, spironolatone, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or carprofen. Always discuss all medications and supplements with your veterinarian before giving RenaPlus.
Precautions
Pets with high blood potassium levels (hyperkalemia) should not take RenaPlus. If severe kidney disease, acute dehydration, untreated Addison's disease (hypoadrenocorticism), or hemolysis (breakdown of red blood cells) is present, this supplement should not be given. Use should also be avoided in pets with constipation.
